West Palm Beach attorney Michelle Suskauer will become president-elect of The Florida Bar at its Annual Convention June 21-24 in Boca Raton.
Suskauer, who will take the leadership reins in June 2018, will be sworn in at the General Assembly on Friday, June 23. Miami attorney Michael J. Higer will be sworn in as president.
Suskauer is an experienced criminal defense attorney and a managing partner of a small firm in West Palm Beach.
She is a member of The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors and has chaired the Board Disciplinary Review Committee, the Board Communications Committee and the Annual Convention Committee.
Suskauer earned a degree in communications at Boston University in 1988. She received her law degree from American University in 1991 and immediately went to work at the Office of the 15th Circuit Public Defender. Three years later, she joined Schuler, Wilkerson, Halvorson & Williams. In 1997, she joined her husband at Suskauer Law Firm, P.A., and she formed Suskauer Feuer LLC in 2015 when her husband was elevated to the bench.
With more than 104,000 members, The Florida Bar is one of the largest unified bars in the nation. It is charged by the Florida Supreme Court with regulating the practice of law in the state as well as promoting the administration of justice.
